Montreal World Film Festival seeking feature films and short films

41st Annual Montreal World Film Festival (MWFF), a celebration of hundreds of international films.  best known for its French culture is also home to myriad of wonderful ethnic communities including Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Haitian, North African, Vietnamese, Latin American and many more, making it the perfect metropolis to welcome the best in international films.

WMFF accepts films of all genres in two categories: Feature Films (Long Métrage) and Short Films (Court Métrage) – previous showcases have featured filmmakers from 80 different countries.

Since its founding 41 years ago, the Montreal World Film Festival has remained faithful to its founding principles. The MWFF offers film lovers and professionals a rich program based on cultural diversity, innovation, independence and creativity. The success and international reputation of the Montreal World Film Festival are firmly linked to these principles and goals.

MWFF’s is an event experienced throughout Quebec offering its guests a truly immersive look into the city. The festival offers much more than just screenings and is dedicated to presenting films to the right distributors. MWFF is the only competitive Film Festival in North America recognized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations). The high profile World Competition includes world and international premieres. The international official Jury awards the various prizes for the feature films of this section: Grand Prix of the Americas, Special Grand Prix of the Jury, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Artistic Contribution, Innovation Award. This same Jury awards two prizes for the short films of this section.

The goal of the Montreal World Film Festival (Montreal International Film Festival) is to encourage cultural diversity and understanding between nations, to foster the cinema of all continents by stimulating the development of quality cinema, to promote filmmakers and innovative works, to discover and encourage new talents, and to promote meetings between cinema professionals from around the world.

The Festival also hosts the The Montreal International Film Market dedicated to finding promotion for the best films of the season. Open daily during the event, the Film Market is well attended by film buyers from around the world.
