NFDC Film Bazaar’s Viewing Room & Work in Progress Lab – Call for Entries!

Both The Viewing Room and The Work in Progress Lab shall run throughout the Film Bazaar that is from the 20th to 24th of November, 2017. They accept films from India and South Asia. The Viewing Room accepts films of any length and genre as well as fully complete films. The objective is to help filmmakers with finishing funds, world sales, distribution partners and film festivals. Whereas as the Work in Progress Lab only accepts feature length films that are still is post production. The Work in Progress Lab selects a total of only 5 films. The films that are not selected are screened at The Viewing Room. 

The Viewing Room:


The Viewing Room aims to present films seeking finishing funds, world sales, distribution partners and film festivals. The films are viewed on individual computer terminals in private booths via a specially designed Viewing Room software. Film programmers, distributors, world sales agents and investors can watch complete films as well as films that are awaiting completion. They can access details about the respective projects as well as contact the filmmakers through this software.To create a more user-friendly experience, viewers can choose to view the films on the basis of parameters like duration, language, stage of completion, type and festival history among others. Investors can also choose to view films which have applied specifically for finishing funds.The Viewing Room allows access only to buyers, financiers, world sales agents and festival programmers.
Some of the many notable films from last years catalogue are: Lathe Joshi, A Billion Colour Story, Ralang Road, Sexy Durga, Newton and Loktak Lairembee who have all been making the festival rounds.

Film Bazaar Recommends (FBR) :
Film Bazaar Recommends, as the name suggests, are feature length films recommended specially by us from among the film submissions. Some of these films are seeking finishing funds, world sales, distribution partners and film festivals and are classified accordingly. This is a specially curated section by the Film Bazaar.
Projects selected for the FBR section will get a chance to show the trailers of their films to the investors attending Film Bazaar at the Investor Pitch sessions.

The Work in Progress Lab:

The Work-In-Progress Lab gives selected filmmakers a chance to screen the rough cut of their film to an eminent panel of international advisors, which include a film festival director, producers, world sales agent and an editor. These advisors provide valuable feedback on the edit with aim of helping the filmmaker achieve an accomplished final cut of the film. The Work-in-Progress Lab is open only for Fiction Features aiming for a theatrical release. A maximum of five films are selected for this Lab.
The Director and Editor of the selected film screen their rough cuts to the panel of advisors and receive an intense one-on-one feedback. The international editor assigned to the film, then guides the Director and Editor of the selected film through two sessions of the Editing Lab which takes place at the Film Bazaar itself.
Since its inception in 2008, the Work-in-Progress Lab has moulded films which have gone on to premiere at top international film festivals and receive critical acclaim. Some of the notable films of past editions are Ship Of Theseus, I Am Kalam, Margarita With A Straw , Nil Battey Sannata and Gurgaon.
