9th Annual NYC Independent Film Festival (#NYCIndieFF), a celebration of the true independent filmmaker. The Festival aims to discover underrepresented filmmakers with unique artistry, showcasing them to the entertainment industry and public in NYC. The Festival takes place in the historic center of NYC, Times Square – the perfect home for an event geared toward creating incredible opportunities for independent voices.

The Festival will screen 250 films, including documentaries, short and feature films, music videos, animated works, and short sketch comedy videos. #NYCIndieFF introduced two new categories for 2018: TV Pilots and Web Series – broadening the showcase to include the growing reach of the independent voice. In addition to films, the Festival will present the 10 Short Script finalists in a live read session open to the public. The Festival will recognize talent across 17 juried award categories, awarding prizes valued over $15,000 USD. Top prizes include a Panasonic AG-DVX200 4K camera to Best Director, a SONY PXW-X70 free 2-week rental to Best Cinematography, and a distribution deal with ShortsTV to Best Short Film and Best Super Short Film. All award winners will receive free music licenses for their next project provided by Epidemic Sound and one year complimentary membership and pitch listing on

The panels and workshops are hosted specifically for filmmakers to hear directly from industry professionals discuss topics such as Distribution, Women in Film, Crowdfunding presented by Seed&Spark, and Cinematic VR.

NYC Independent Film Festival’s mission is to provide a showcase for independent filmmakers from NYC and around the world to public and entertainment industry in NYC. The weeklong celebration screens the best indie films and gives filmmakers the opportunity for potential distribution and fundraising, all while providing a space to network with press and supporters.

The Festival’s vision is to stay focused on low budget films and emerging yet overlooked filmmakers, to create one of the largest gatherings worldwide of true indie filmmakers.

Since 2009, NYC Independent Film Festival has aimed to discover talented domestic as well as international indie filmmakers by screening 1,280 movies from 61 countries. Notable selections of 2017 include Bruce which was acquired by Comedy Dynamics for distribution, and Best Short Script winner Dolphin Girl is currently in production. To date, the Festival has awarded over $120,000 value in prizes to award winners.
