‘Vada Chennai’ and ‘Soni’ at the 2nd Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival
National award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s ‘Vada Chennai‘ and Ivan Ayr’s ‘Soni‘ which premiered at Venice early September, are the Indian selections at China’s Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival 2018.
The Dhanush-starrer Vada Chennai will have its world premiere in the Gala section. Based on Anbu, a youngster from North Madras, whose life changes completely when he meets local gangsters Guna and Rajan, the film also stars Samuthirakani, Andrea Jeremiah and Aishwarya Rajesh.
Ivan Ayr’s Soni will screen in the Crouching Tigers section for first and second films of filmmakers. Soni, a young policewoman in Delhi, and her superintendent, Kalpana, have collectively taken on a growing crisis of violent crimes against women. However, their alliance suffers a major setback when Soni is transferred out for alleged misconduct on duty. This will be the film’s Asian Premiere.
