Yoodlee Films’ latest venture ‘The Music Teacher’ premiered at the 8th Chicago South Asian Film Festival
The romantic musical saga will screen next at the 10th Indian Film Festival of Houston, Oct 4 – 6
Set against the landscape of Himachal, is a heartwarming story of love and its many failures. Despite his ambitions to make it big, Beni, played by the talented Manav Kaul is still stuck in the hills, bitter and hurt, struggling to make ends meet by teaching music and singing in clubs. Jyotsna (Amrita Bagchi), his estranged student and now a Bollywood singer, left the hills 8 years ago. The town is abuzz with the news of Jyotsna’s return to perform at a music concert. Beni has to come to terms with the pains of the past and the delusions of the present to deal with both, Jyotsna’s presence in the hills and in his life. The film also stars Divya Dutta and Nina Gupta in prominent roles.
Winner of the Mahindra-Sundance Global Filmmaker Award in 2013 for the screenplay of ‘The Music Teacher’, Sarthak Dasgupta, is singer turned filmmaker. His debut feature was ‘The Great Indian Butterfly’. His second feature premiered at the 8th edition of the Chicago South Asian Film Festival over September 20 – 23, 2018.
Produced by Yoodlee Films, leading music company Saregama’s film production wing, the film will move on to premiere at Houston’s Indian Film Festival in the first week of October.
